Other options

There are a number of other qualifications young people can choose to take and some you may have heard of include Pearson’s BTECs, OCR’s Cambridge Nationals and City & Guild’s Technical Awards.

These qualifications can vary in size and can be studied on their own or alongside other qualifications. They could be combined with GCSEs or one or two A-levels, for example. Entry requirements vary by qualification and level.

Availability of courses differs by local area, and you should be aware some qualifications are being phased out. It’s best to check what’s available locally and explore all options with your child before they make their decision.
