T-levels

T-levels are career-focused qualifications for 16- to 19-year-olds. Your child will choose one T-level, which is equivalent to three A-levels and helps your child develop the skills employers are looking for.

T-levels are offered by many schools and colleges across England and offer your child an ideal first step into a future career. Currently, your child can choose to study one of 21 different T-levels that cover a wide range of sectors and interests, with even more being made available from September 2025. Entry requirements vary by school or college.

Each two-year course has been designed with employers from multiple sectors. Young people spend 80% of their time in the classroom at school or college, and 20% of their time learning on-the-job to prepare them for employment or further study, like a higher level apprenticeship, a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) or a degree. The structure and content of the T-level programme is approved by government. There is one awarding body per T-level subject.
